Universal Chemical Resistance & Elastomeric Compressibility
PTFE Encapsulated O-Rings combine the chemical inertness of a PTFE outer jacket (FEP or PFA) with the elastomeric compressibility of an inner rubber core (Silicone or Viton). Standard elastomeric O-rings often fail when exposed to aggressive organic solvents, corrosive acids, or high temperatures. Conversely, solid PTFE O-rings lack the elastic memory needed to maintain seal pressure under thermal cycles. Encapsulated O-rings solve this by utilizing the elastomeric core to push the chemical-resistant PTFE jacket firmly against the sealing face.
Micro Engineering manufactures premium PTFE encapsulated O-rings designed for zero-tolerance process piping, chemical dosing reactors, and sanitary food loops. The seamless FEP/PFA jacket presents a smooth, non-contaminating surface that is FDA-compliant, making these gaskets highly suitable for pharmaceutical processing, beverage lines, and petrochemical refining loops.
Preferred sealing solution for aggressive acids, chlorine dosing, pharmaceutical autoclaves, and high-temp paint spraying systems.
